This week the violinist Michael Germer will give his recommendations for concerts near YOU 🎶
Michael is the recent repient of DR P2 Talentprise 2022. He is currently studying at The Royal Academy of Music with Nikolaj Szepz-Znaider.
🔔 3th and 4th March - DRSO & Barbara Hannigan
I think you would have to look hard to find a composer that writes in a more spectacular fashion than Mahler did. The 4th Symphony a bit of an odd one out - written for a rather small orchestra, he perhaps takes a more naive and imaginative approach to this symphony. What makes this concert even more extraordinary is Barbara Hannigan both conducting and singing the solo in the symphony. This concert is definetely something not be missed.
🦩 6th March - NOVO Quartet (Fuglsang Musikforening)
This up-and-coming quartet based in Copenhagen - recently 2nd Prize winners at Trondheim International Competition - will take Fuglsang Music Society by storm in a daring program featuring Beethoven, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn String Quartets. I have heard them and I can promise you, they won’t leave you disappointed.
🔥 6th March - 27th March - The Valkyrie (The Royal Theatre)
Speaking of writing in spectacular fashion, Wagner is by all means a competitor to Mahler in this sense. This monstrosity of an opera has it all, a compelling story, astonishing lyrics, breathtaking music, all coming together in this new production at the Royal Opera. And with Maestro Søndergård on the podium, you can hardly go wrong here.
