Description
A Dream Within a Dream is a concert with music revolving around dream, longing and reflection. The title is taken from Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name, and points to a programme in which text and music are at the centre. Øystein Stensheim and Petter Richter perform a varied repertoire with music by Marcus Paus and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, among others. The programme contains both newer and classical works, and shows the many expressive possibilities in the meeting between voice and guitar – a line-up that gives intimacy, transparency and great richness of sound. The concert offers music with lyrical, dramatic and contemplative expressions, and invites the audience to an hour in which words and tones are in focus. Øystein Stensheim is one of Norway's most sought-after tenors, with a broad repertoire ranging from baroque and church music to opera, chamber music and contemporary music. He is a frequent soloist with the country's leading orchestras and ensembles, and is particularly known for his commitment to outreach and his strong presence on the concert stage. Petter Richter is regarded as one of Scandinavia's leading classical guitarists. He has performed at venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie and Festspielhaus Salzburg, and combines an international concert career with his position as associate professor at Norges musikkhøgskole. In recent years he has made his mark both as a soloist, a chamber musician and as an active advocate of new music for guitar. The concert series is a collaboration between Gamle Raadhus Scene, Vegard Lund and Oslo Quartet Series. Tickets Kr 150,- (Opera members 100,-, Students/PublikUng kr 50,-) Feel free to bring a packed lunch, we serve free coffee and a little something sweet. Address Gamle Raadhus Scene, Christiania torv 1 The orange house on your right when you stand with your back to the statue of HANSKEN on Christiania torv, looking down Rådhusgaten towards the Opera. Right next to Rådhusgata 30. PublikUng PublikUng is an organisation that lowers the threshold for young people to attend opera and classical music concerts. The vision is to spread interest in these art forms and make them more accessible to those aged 18 to 30. PublikUng now has just under 2000 members and it costs only kr 50,- to become a member. The only rule is that if you have received a free or very cheap ticket to a concert/performance, the registration is binding. You MUST then use your ticket. If you do not, unfortunately a fine follows. There is always a long waiting list and someone else who would like to go in your place if you cannot. Please let us know if you will not be using your ticket after all. You can also give it to a friend.
