Description
Oslo-filharmoniens kammerserie: Invisible Gestures, Audible Images - Tonal Perspectives from Bach, Bliss and Yun
Five instruments, four mythical animals. In Isang Yun's Images, turtle, dragon, phoenix and tiger melt together in ever-changing tone colours, while Arthur Bliss' Conversations lets the instruments chat humorously with one another. This chamber concert is framed by two quintets by Johann Christian Bach.
Welcome to a chamber programme with a unique coherence through associations with both the verbal and the visual. While Isang Yun's work opens up a deep, philosophical sound world, Arthur Bliss entertains with musical communication. The works are framed by the galant and highly expressive music of Bach's son.
What all the works have in common is that they explore new forms of musical expression within their genre: Bach through the affects in the music, Bliss through a humorous musical programme and Yun through his ability to paint pictures with sound.
