1001 Nights and Tsjaikovskij's Violin Concerto

Julian Rachlin

,

Benjamin Beilman

Description

Conductor: Julian Rachlin Soloist: Benjamin Beilman, violin Programme: Nikolaj Rimskij‑Korsakov: Scheherazade – symphonic suite, Op. 35 (1888) Pjotr Tsjaikovskij: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 (1878) Rimskij-Korsakov's Scheherazade opens the concert with the magic of 1001 Nights, where the violin – played by the concertmaster – steps forward as Scheherazade's own voice and carries her stories through the music. Then follows Tsjajkovskij's Violin Concerto, one of the most ardent and emotionally powerful works in the repertoire, which Benjamin Beilman fills with both technical brilliance and lyrical warmth. Together, Rachlin and Beilman create this evening a musical journey in which the orchestra brings adventure, emotion and the joy of storytelling to life – entirely without words.
