Alpaca Ensemble

Alpaca Ensemble is one of Norway's most important contemporary music ensembles, and is a creative ensemble that is a driving force and an important contribution to the cultural life of the Trondheim region. The ensemble has a varying line-up, with an artistic leadership consisting of Else Bø, Sigrid Elisabeth Stang and Marianne Baudouin Lie. Alpaca initiates innovative projects within contemporary music, and through collaboration with various artists across a wide field the ensemble experiments with concert format and challenges genre boundaries. Alpaca is an artistic arena for experimentation, genre mixing and creative ideas in interplay with classical, jazz, popular music and contemporary music, and also uses elements from the performing arts. The ensemble collaborates with other outstanding musicians, composers and artists within various genres and forms of expression. The ensemble's ambition is to keep developing as an ensemble and as artists through our work. Commissioning new works and collaborating with a broad range of artists and composers is very important to the musicians, and when they move personal boundaries something happens both to Alpaca as an ensemble and to the music they perform. We also want to help create a living and visible contemporary music scene in Trøndelag and Norway. Photo: Terje Trobe
