The Power of Silence
Sveinung Lillebjerka
,Magnus Loddgard
Description
Join us as Sveinung Lillebjerka steps down as concertmaster of Arktisk Filharmoni. He does so in his own way, with music that listens more than it shouts – and with a composer who has accompanied him for many years, the Dane Bent Sørensen. It was with Sveinung as artistic director and concertmaster that the development of Bodø Sinfonietta truly gathered pace. His artistic ambitions have been and remain invaluable to the development of the city's musical life, the ensemble and what is today Arktisk Filharmoni. With a steady hand and an open mind he has shaped sound, precision and ambition. A concertmaster who both leads and listens – generous in ensemble playing, solid in craft and always curious about new forms of expression. When he returned home to Bodø in 2004 he was already a sought-after name in Norwegian musical life. He brought with him varied experience, among other things from many years in Trondheim Symfoniorkester, his own tango projects and the contemporary music ensemble BIT20 in Bergen. In Bodø he has helped build something lasting for the city and the region. He is a dear colleague and a familiar face to our audience. Sveinung himself highlights the collaboration with Bent Sørensen as a particularly important influence on his playing. All the pieces in the concert are written by Sørensen, who will also be present this evening. Rather than fireworks, this farewell party will be marked by a strange multitude of sounds, and – above all – by the silence between the sounds We will hear the title work from Sveinung's solo album The Lady of Shalott for solo violin, and three of Sørensen's pieces for sinfonietta. Together they paint a portrait of a distinctive Nordic artistry – and of a musician who, over a long career, has chosen depth, precision and sonic courage. Soloist: Sveinung Lillebjerka Conductor: Magnus Loddgard Sinfonietta
