Description
Vive la France! puts Maurice Ravel in focus – a master of elegance, colour and sonority. In Le Tombeau de Couperin, baroque forms and personal reflection meet, while Tzigane shows Ravel at his most virtuosic – from the free opening to the dazzling finish, full of temperament and technical brilliance. Ma Mère takes us into a fairy-tale world of shimmering tones. Contemporary sounds mirror and challenge Ravel: Kaija Saariaho's Vers toi qui es si loin moves in a dreamlike landscape of distance and closeness, and Caroline Shaw's Entr'Acte plays with the forms of tradition in a surprising and playful way. A programme where French finesse meets modern imagination and rhythmic vitality. Leading and playing with Nordiska Kammarorkestern is our musical director Malin Broman. The concert is part of Abonnemang Tonhallen.
