Malin Broman & Camerata Nordica

Malin Broman, ledare & solist, violin

Description

This programme follows a clear and beautiful musical arc, brought to life by Malin Broman, one of Sweden's most appreciated violinists and a longtime friend of Camerata Nordica. Her dynamic leadership, warm tone and deep musicality make her an ideal guide through this colourful journey. The concert opens with Grace Williams's Sea Sketches, a remarkable portrait of the changing nature of the sea. Images of restless waves and still radiance are captured by Williams's sense of movement and atmosphere. Few works draw the listener so directly into a sounding landscape. The journey then continues up into the air with Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending. With Malin Broman as soloist, the work becomes a meditation on light and clarity: the violin soars high above soft harmonies, like a lark in free flight. Its lyrical beauty offers a moment of deep stillness and reflection. After the interval comes the radiant centrepiece of the evening: Brahms's String Sextet No. 2, here in Kurt Atterberg's masterly arrangement for string orchestra. Atterberg enlarges the sextet's warm, intricate textures without losing its chamber-music intimacy. The result is music with generous breadth and emotional depth – from the expansive opening to the tranquil Adagio and the lively, dance-like finale. Under Malin Broman's direction, Camerata Nordica unites these worlds with precision, warmth and great sensitivity. From sea to sky and onwards to Brahms's glowing Romanticism, the programme offers an evening of strong contrasts and deeply engaging musical storytelling. Programme: Grace Williams: Sea Sketches Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending, for solo violin and string orchestra Brahms: String Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36 (arr. for string orchestra by Kurt Atterberg)
