Marinens Musikkår
Marinens Musikkår has roots going back to the 1680s and has been active in an unbroken line ever since. The band is today one of the Swedish Armed Forces' three professional military bands and consists of 30 full-time professional musicians. Every year the band carries out about 150 performances by taking part in official state visits, royal audiences, changes of the guard, performances for military units, tattoos and concerts.
The band has extensive concert activity open to the public, where the repertoire spans a wide range of wind music genres and is aimed at different target groups, all in order to reach new audiences. In connection with these performances the band works on marketing and recruitment for the Armed Forces.
Marinens Musikkår is an Armed Forces resource, both at home and abroad, and has taken part in overseas missions in, among other places, Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan, with both ceremonial music and musical entertainment for staff welfare purposes.
Marinens Musikkår is stationed in the World Heritage city of Karlskrona.
