Join us for "Scenes for the Future," where Ensemble Storstrøm teams up with the Royal Danish Academy of Music to showcase young talent.
At KUMUS, students from the conservatory will perform solo and chamber music pieces. This year, enjoy the students of the Royal Danish Academy of Music playing chamber music gems. Ensemble Director Maj Kullberg will introduce the concerts with interviews of the young musicians.
KUMUS was originally built in 1863 as a prestigious residence for the tenant farmer at Fuglsang, with living quarters for farmworkers and servants and a production facility in the form of a dairy. Today, the exterior remains much the same as it was 150 years ago, but after the extensive renovation and rebuilding, the building now serves entirely new functions.
A large-scale renovation project has transformed the beautiful old, heritage-protected Forpagterbolig associated with Fuglsang Manor on the east coast of Lolland into a modern Art and Music House. The building is located opposite Fuglsang Art Museum.
As much of the old atmosphere as possible has been preserved, which is especially noticeable in the choice of materials and colors both inside and outside.
The old dairy, an original extension in the northeastern part of the house, has been converted into a modern concert hall with space for about 120 guests, where architecture and acoustics come together in perfect harmony.
Visitors can enjoy excellent and handicap-friendly parking and access, a pleasant foyer and café area, and a beautiful and innovative glass arcade that leads to the concert hall, setting the mood for artistic experiences.
The former dairy has been transformed into a state-of-the-art concert hall that can also be used for various cultural purposes such as theater, lectures, conferences, and more. At the opposite end of the building, the tenant farmer's residence has been converted into spaces where children and young people, under expert guidance, can engage with art and explore their own creativity.
Ensemble Storstrøm, which previously occupied the manor's main building, is now based in KUMUS, with administrative and rehearsal spaces adjoining the concert hall. Fuglsang Art Museum and Ensemble Storstrøm are the primary daily operators, but the facility also accommodates many other cultural activities.
