The London Symphony Orchestra is a legendary orchestra that throughout its history has been led by some of the greatest conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Colin Davies, Simon Rattle, and others.
The orchestra is conducted for the concerts by Sir Antonio Pappano, an English-Italian conductor and pianist. One of today’s most sought-after conductors, acclaimed for his charismatic leadership and inspirational performances in both symphonic and operatic repertoire, Sir Antonio Pappano is Chief Conductor Designate of the London Symphony Orchestra (assuming the full title from the 2024/2025 season) and has been Music Director of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden since 2002.
In the first concert of the weekend, the program offers three beautiful works - among them Rachmaninov's wonderfully resonant 2nd Symphony and Barber's beautiful violin concerto, in which Janine Jansen is the soloist. Janine Jansen is a celebrated violinist known for her captivating performances and exceptional talent. With her dynamic playing style and deep musical sensitivity, she has become one of the most prominent violinists of her generation. Born in the Netherlands, Janine began playing the violin at a young age and quickly rose to prominence with her remarkable skill. Her repertoire spans classical masterpieces to contemporary works, and she is acclaimed for her collaborations with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide.
The concert will take place in the Concert Hall at Aalborg's Musikkens Hus on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 4 p.m.
The second concert program consists of Samuel Barber's Adagio, Vaughan Williams' 5th Symphony, and Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, featuring the French star pianist Bertrand Chamayou at the piano. Bertrand Chamayou, a distinguished French pianist, is celebrated for his exceptional artistry and virtuosity. His dynamic interpretations, ranging from classical to contemporary repertoire, captivate audiences worldwide with his profound musicality.
