Description
For almost two decades, the classical piano students at DJM have organised an annual piano festival, OPUS Festival, celebrating piano playing in all its guises. The festival lasts a full week, with a concert every evening (at 19.30), in the afternoon at the weekend (at 14:00), and rehearsals and workshops during the daytime. At the concert on Saturday afternoon, the piano teacher at DJM, Martin Lysholm Jepsen, celebrates his 60th birthday. Martin is also head of the piano school Gradus, which over very many years has nurtured a long line of Denmark’s greatest piano talents. Current and former pupils from Gradus take part in the concert. Curated by students DJM’s students curate the programmes and perform at all the concerts, and every year guests from other conservatoires are also invited to play at the concerts. During the day, the teachers from DJM and the guests teach each other’s students. In 2026 OPUS welcomes visitors from Vilnius, Lithuania, and Helsinki, Finland. Three students are coming from Vilnius and three from Helsinki. In addition, Professors Aleksandra Zvirblyte from Vilnius and Tuija Hakkial and Eero Heinonen from Helsinki will be taking part. Heinonen plays solo in the 2nd half of the concert on Sunday afternoon. (A detailed programme for each concert will follow shortly.) The concert is free, and you can simply turn up without a ticket. Please arrive in good time.
