Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium
The Conservatoire is a state institution under the Ministry of Culture and provides the highest level of education in music and otherwise contributes to promoting music culture in Denmark. The Conservatoire also carries out artistic and pedagogical development work, and the teachers may conduct scientific research within their fields.
The programmes are of the highest level both nationally and internationally. That is to say, they can measure up to the best of the corresponding programmes abroad. DJM trains for professional musical life, and depending on the programme you can graduate as a musician, as a soloist, as a composer or as a music teacher. We offer a broad palette of programmes in rhythmic, classical and electronic music alike.
The teaching emphasises solo work with an instrument or voice. To this are added ensemble playing and a number of supplementary secondary subjects. On some of the study lines, music pedagogy and the communication subjects carry particular weight. DJM has a committed and active body of teachers, and we expect the same attitude from the students. We are flexible but also emphasise discipline and cooperation as important elements in the education of professional musicians and music teachers.
