Description
For almost two decades the classical piano students at DJM have organised an annual piano festival, OPUS Festival, which celebrates piano playing in all its guises. The festival lasts a full week, with a concert every evening (at 19.30), on the weekend in the afternoon (at 14:00), as well as rehearsals and workshops during the day. At the concert on Saturday afternoon, piano teacher at DJM Martin Lysholm Jepsen celebrates his 60th birthday. Martin is also head of the piano school Gradus, which over many years has nurtured a long line of Denmark's greatest piano talents. Current and former pupils from Gradus take part in the concert. Curated by students DJM's students curate the programmes and play at all the concerts, and in addition guests from other conservatoires are invited every year and also play at the concerts. During the day the teachers of DJM and of the guests teach each other's students. In 2026 OPUS receives visitors from Vilnius, Lithuania, and Helsinki, Finland. Three students are coming from Vilnius and three from Helsinki. In addition the professors Aleksandra Zvirblyte from Vilnius and Tuija Hakkial and Eero Heinonen from Helsinki are coming. Heinonen plays solo in the 2nd part of the concert on Sunday afternoon.
