Handel's Messiah

Description

In the middle of the December bustle on Strøget, Helligaandskirken opens its doors to Handel's Messiah. The work begins in darkness, but already with the tenor's first words - Comfort ye - unrest is transformed into comfort. Through biblical texts about hope, suffering and redemption, Handel unfolds a story that reaches far beyond Christmas. With a renewed look at text and music, we wish to let the familiar tones ring out as if they were being heard for the first time. 14 professional singers take on both the work's great choruses and the many solo parts. They are accompanied by an orchestra of baroque specialists playing on period instruments. Programme: Händel / Messiah
