Description
Wagner's monumental work for young and old alike. Who will save humankind and love when the battle for the magic ring thunders from the gods' fortress to the depths of the underworld? Experience an unforgettable musical adventure peopled by gods, Valkyries and dwarfs in this family version of Richard Wagner's opera cycle, The Ring of the Nibelung. Here four operas are fused into a single story about friendship and power, and about what happens when power falls into the wrong hands. The Ring offers 7-12-year-olds and their families a fairy-tale first experience of Wagner's classic masterpiece. The production was created by Det Lille Teater and Copenhagen Opera Festival and co-produced by Den Jyske Opera. Plot: At the beginning of all things, Erda creates the world - including the enchanted Rhinegold. One day the dark elf Alberich discovers the gold in a river. He steals it and forges it into a ring that gives him all the power in the world. The Valkyrie Brünnhilde wants the gold back so that everything can be well again. She meets the boy Siegfried, and together they travel to Valhalla and ask Brünnhilde's father, the god Wotan, for advice. When Wotan hears of the ring's power, he becomes lustful for power and decides to steal it himself. In the end, Brünnhilde brings the ring back to the river, where it belongs. Target group: 7-12-year-olds. Programme: Wagner / The Ring of the Nibelung (family version)
