Music from Darkness to Light

Description

Music from darkness to light - literally. Welcome to a concert far beyond the ordinary: with the listeners safely seated in the cathedral, the lights are put out in transition, while the two outstanding string players let notes and thoughts travel on a geographical and mental long voyage, including with America's most important composer after World War 2, John Cage, and his Litany for Whales, the Norwegian Johan Halvorsen's virtuosic and sparkling variations on Händel's famous Sarabande, and finally nothing less than a world premiere of Bo Gunge's Giguen und Geigen. Along the way the light will make its appearance, both psychologically and physically. Organised by Ribe Musikforening Admission kr. 160/120 Programme: John Cage / Litany for Whales Johan Halvorsen / Passacaglia on a theme by Händel (Sarabande) Bo Gunge / Giguen und Geigen (world premiere)
