Organ Roar

Description

The organ can do anything. It is the only instrument that can hold its own against a full symphony orchestra - and yet can be a supple and athletic partner. At this concert you can experience it in its noblest and most amiable form in Handel's fine, birdlike concerto “The Cuckoo and the Nightingale”, which is full of birdsong and ornithological antics. Poulenc, on the other hand, lets the organ unfold across its entire spectrum, from spherical nocturnal sonorities to warlike fighting spirit. If you are not already an organ fan, you will be after this. As a breather, our wind players perform Taffanel's fine wind quintet.
