Description
Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale about the little duckling in a fun PixiOpera for children.
The last egg of Mother Duck is finally hatched, and out comes a duckling that none of the other animals in the duck pond understand. What is that strange colour and shape, and is it any good for anything at all?
The fairy tale of The Ugly Duckling is told by three pigeons who are bored and decide to play out the whole fairy tale together. They dress up and get so absorbed in their roles that they almost forget that it was only meant to be a fun game…
In Det Kongelige Teater's Pixi Performances, the youngest members of the family can get a fun and informal introduction to the theatre's classical art forms: opera, drama, ballet and classical music. PixiOpera is an opera in miniature, made and told for children, with songs and musical excerpts from well-known opera titles, but with new words.
In The Ugly Duckling the musical excerpts are from, among others, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, Carl Nielsen's Maskarade, Peter Heise's Drot og Marsk, Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow and Emmerich Kálmán's The Csárdás Princess.
Give children their - perhaps - first encounter with the opera genre in this delightful performance for the little ones.
