The Opera House is home to the unique live experience of opera and symphonic music. We invite artists and ideas from all over the world in, and at the same time export art made in Denmark to the rest of the world. Head of Opera John Fulljames is the Royal Danish Theatre's Head of Opera. He was previously employed as Associate Director at The Royal Opera House in London since 2011, where he worked closely with Kasper Holten, among others. Earlier (from 1997-2011) he was artistic director of The Opera Group (now Mahogany Opera Group). He has worked with a wide range of composers and has great experience in developing and producing operas. Chief Conductor Alexander Vedernikov trained at the Moscow Conservatory, and his international career has gone from highlight to highlight. He is in demand as a guest conductor with several of the world's largest orchestras. Vedernikov was chief conductor at Odense Symfoniorkester from 2009-2016. From 2001-2009 he was music director and chief conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Russia's traditions in music and theatre play a major role in Alexander Verdernikov's artistic work, and the Russian composers, including not least Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff, have a very special personal significance for him.
