The story of the acclaimed sculptor Anne Marie Carl Nielsen and her husband the composer Carl Nielsen returns when the successful letter concert from the spring of 2023 is restaged in 2027. The actress Lotte Andersen tells the love story of the century through captivating and dramatic readings of the artist couple's personal letters, which are woven together with a selection of Carl Nielsen's many wonderful compositions performed by LiveStrings & Nicolai Kornerup. Beautiful letters and personal diaries In 2013 the couple's diaries and a sea of personal letters were published, when Lotte Andersen read all 1000 letters between Marie and Carl and became fascinated by the artists, their love story and the thought-provoking struggle for equality that played out between them more than 100 years ago. That is why she wrote the epistolary novel Carl og Marie - i Kunst og i Kærlighed (Gyldendal). In the letter concert Marie & Carl - in art and love, the musical repertoire embraces both the effervescent and the melancholic - and it is all evoked by the warm sound of the string quartet LiveStrings and the pianist Nicolai Kornerup. The performance leaves the audience with a moving story of a marriage in good times and bad, but also a relevant and important historical insight into an artist's life and something as unique as a creative career woman circa 1900, with clear parallels to our lives today.
