Star Wars and The Planets

Description

The two symphony orchestras of the border region join forces and travel to a galaxy far, far away. Once a year the region's two symphony orchestras come together in a magnificent concert. And why not use the occasion for a trip into space! We begin with John Williams's music for Star Wars - here in a concentrated suite for orchestra, with all the well-known themes included. Next on the programme is Holst's The Planets, a work that truly demands a large and surging orchestra! Holst wrote The Planets in the early 1900s, and the work is not about astronomy but about astrology: each movement portrays a planet as an expression of a human force or state of mind - from war and love to mysticism and eternity. Programme: Williams / Star Wars, suite for orchestra Holst / The Planets
