The most distinguished task of Den Kongelige Livgardes Musikkorps is to provide music for the Royal House: music at the changing of the guard at Her Majesty's residence, banquet music at the palaces, and music at state visits and receptions. Put popularly, the band is the Royal House's house orchestra. The band also provides music for the Armed Forces in connection with parades and ceremonies. In addition, the band has a nationwide public concert programme and has several times been abroad to promote Denmark. A large part of the band's work is visible to the public, while a smaller part takes place for specially invited guests. Livgardens Musikkorps performed in public 174 times in 2014 (parades and concerts). For over 350 years Livgardens Musikkorps has been a culture-bearing factor in Danish history. The band promotes both the Armed Forces and the city of Copenhagen through the famous and popular guard parades through the city.
