Copenhagen Opera Festival
19. aug. - 28. aug.
København
Copenhagen Opera Festival lives, breathes and exists in the heart of our beautiful city. Every summer, world-class artists take over the streets, canals, halls and homes with the ultimate combinations of song, theatre, film, drama, dance and storytelling: OPERA!
The festival is looking for new, bold, inspiring artists, performers and visionary spaces that both make opera blossom and keep our beloved traditions alive.
The festival was founded in 2009 and in 2019 it celebrated its 10th anniversary, when more than 40,000 people took part in the festival's events across Copenhagen.
In 2020, the festival as we know and love it is cancelled because of COVID-19. We do not stand still, however. Instead the city gets a summer gift in the form of 100 opera moments at the end of August, when live opera is brought directly to doorsteps and backyards. We look instead towards 2021 and the most wonderful reunion with both audiences and artists when we return in full bloom.
In 2021 a new chapter begins. Here we will begin to unfold the plans and productions that will grow and develop with us over the next three years. Copenhagen Opera Festival is for you, whether you are an opera aficionado or someone who is curious about what opera is and how it can feel to take part. Our programme consists of a dynamic and tempting menu from which you can choose freely. It includes large and small productions, concerts and events for the whole family. We try to push boundaries, track down new talents, present the glory of established world-class artists and let the city shine in a thousand forms through the wonder that is the human voice.
