Frederiksberg Festspil 15 - 19 September 2021 Frederiksberg Festspil is a new annual festival in Frederiksberg for classical music in new constellations, under the artistic direction of the pianist Katrine Gislinge. On 15 - 29 September 2021 the second edition of Frederiksberg Festspil is launched under the theme ”Release the Breath”. The concerts in this year's programme can be experienced as a respiratory release, a poetic and musical exhalation in light of the past year and a half of a state that was at once standstill and chaotic. It is an exploration of the inhalation, which fills us with life and nourishes body and spirit, and of the exhalation, as devotion to both life and art - but also exhalation in the sense of the last breath - the difficult, the sorrowful - towards death.
This year's festival artists are: Mahan Esfahani (harpsichord), Søren Ulrik Thomsen (author), Pernille Rosendahl (vocals), Liza Ferschtman (violin), Natalie Clein (cello), Lars Anders Tomter (viola), Den Danske Strygekvartet, Benjamin Koppel (saxophone), Dreamers Cirkus, the performance artists Madame Nielsen and Sophie Dupont, Ars Nova (vocal ensemble), Mathias Heise (Jew's harp), Kari Postma (vocals), Katrin Weisser (actor), Anne Birgitte Feigenberg (actor), Bent Sørensen (composer), Esther Lee Wilkinson (dancer), the string quartets Täiga and Halvcirkel, Mikkel Ploug (guitarist), Sankt Annæ Pigekor, Ensemble Blæst, musician and composer Thomas Sandberg, moderator Torben Sangild and of course artistic director Katrine Gislinge (piano) herself.
