This week’s classical repertoire offers some of the year’s most significant concerts with top-class international artists. Barbara Hannigan, one of the most talked-about sopranos of our time, performs on Sunday in Mogens Dahl Koncertsal together with the acclaimed Belcea Quartet. The programme ranges from Webern’s modernism to Mozart’s 'Dissonance' Quartet, completed by Hindemith and Schönberg – a refined meeting of vocal and chamber music at the highest level.

Bach’s magnificent Mass in B minor gets its well-deserved place at Sunday’s Bach Festival in Trinitatis Kirke, where Trinitatis Kantori og Barokorkester unfold the composer’s musical testament. At the same time, audiences can experience Mozart’s unfinished Requiem with Odense Symfoniorkester on Thursday and Friday – a work surrounded by mystery and depth.

Den Kongelige Opera presents two impressive productions: Strauss’s 'Der Rosenkavalier' on the Store Scene with chief conductor Marie Jacquot at the helm, and the Romantic ballet 'Giselle' with Det Kongelige Kapel. Both performances represent opera and ballet of international standing.

Donizetti’s 'Don Pasquale' tours the country with Det Kongelige Operakor and Aalborg Symfoniorkester in a staging that has earned recognition from Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In parallel, Den Jyske Opera presents Mozart’s 'Don Giovanni' – two different approaches to the seductive themes of opera.

DR SymfoniOrkestret offers a meeting between the Spanish composer Juan Arriaga – known as 'the Spanish Mozart' – and conductor Juanjo Mena, while Trio con Brio Copenhagen explores Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s monumental piano trio.

Finally, Jesper Nordin’s newly composed opera 'Fugl' is presented, based on a true story from the Second World War – modern music theatre with historical relevance.

The week offers an exceptional breadth from the Baroque to contemporary music, with artists and ensembles of international significance.
