Week 17 offers a strong mix of opera classics and the most interesting composers of our time. Richard Strauss's opulent 'Der Rosenkavalier' takes centre stage at Operaen, where opera director Elisabeth Linton and chief conductor Marie Jacquot present their new production. Operaen also offers Donizetti's witty 'Don Pasquale' in the acclaimed production from Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

Mozart's 'Requiem' receives special treatment when Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester's new principal guest conductor Henrik Schaefer leads the work in Løgumkloster Kirke. The monumental death requiem meets the historic church setting in a combination that promises both artistic depth and spiritual intensity.

Contemporary music makes a strong mark this week. Aarhus Kammerorkester presents three world premieres together with Ligeti's complex 'Kammerkonzert' - a programme for listeners seeking the experimental edge of classical music. The SPOR festival continues with works by Anna Thorvaldsdottir and Simon Steen-Andersen, where Aalborg Symfoniorkester explores the compositional landscape of today.

DR Vokalensemblet with honorary conductor Marcus Creed performs all of Bach's motets for choir over two evenings in Trinitatis Kirke. It is a rare opportunity to experience these virtuoso vocal works together with one of Europe's finest vocal ensembles.

Anneleen Lenaerts, principal harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic, plays Gliéres' rarely performed harp concerto with Aalborg Symfoniorkester. DR SymfoniOrkestret and Fabio Luisi present Schoenberg's late-Romantic 'Pelléas and Mélisande' together with Strauss's 'Aus Italien'.

The week is rounded off by the Swedish Vocal Art Ensemble under Jan Yngwe, presenting choral music by Caroline Shaw and other contemporary composers in Trinitatis Kirke.

A week of both deep tradition and artistic renewal.
