Mørdrup Kirke

Mørdrup Kirke is the parish church of Mørdrup Parish. The church lies roughly in the middle of Espergærde, close to Espergærdecenteret. The background for the church was the dramatic population growth in Espergærde in the 1960s. At that time Egebæksvang Kirke was the only church in the parish, but it lay on the north-eastern edge of the town, and it would also not at all have been able to accommodate the expected influx of churchgoers. As there was at the same time dramatic population growth at Borupgaard in Snekkersten, it was decided to build two new churches, both centrally located for the residential areas they were to serve. One church was Mørdrup Kirke, the other was Sthens Kirke.
