Cello Concert: Scenes from a Friendship

Description

Cello concert: «Scenes from a Friendship» with Marianne Baudouin Lie In collaboration with nyMusikk Trondheim, Kunstrom Jakob and cellist Marianne Baudouin Lie invite you to a concert experience in which composed works, improvisation and text merge in an exploration of friendship, collaboration and close artistic relationships. Through music by, among others, Karin Rehnqvist, Therese Ulvo, Signe Emmeluth Krunderup, Bente Leiknes Thorsen and Lene Grenager, the concert moves between the intimate and the expressive, between structure and spontaneity. The theme revolves around close and long working partnerships - about triumphs, disagreements, trust and the road towards a shared artistic expression. Several of the works (Krunderup, Thorsen, Grenager) were written especially for the project, and take as their starting point texts, the voice and the relationship to the cello's tonal and physical presence. The concert also contains improvised passages in interplay with violinist Børge Brustad. Together they form the duo ENTGL, which explores the tonal possibilities of the string instruments through a close and attentive interplay. With prepared instruments and an open musical language inspired by both jazz and contemporary music. The process is the goal and the music is the result. Scenes from a Friendship is a personal and investigative concert about the people we create with - and how artistic relationships can become as close, complex and long-lasting as other life partnerships. The concert is part of the event series Samtidsmøter: Steinkjer curated by Kunstrom Jakob. Programme: Karin Rehnqvist / Psalm ur natten, för cello (2006/2024) Therese Ulvo / Dancing Shadows II-III (2020) Signe Emmeluth Krunderup / Abstraktion - for cello and voice (commissioned work) Bente Leiknes Thorsen / Ruins (to friendships and losses) (commissioned work) Lene Grenager / Scenes from a Friendship (commissioned work)
