Folk Dance Ball - Baroktoberfest 2026
Marieke Van Ransbeeck (BE)
Description
It is almost impossible to sit still when swinging folk music is being played. That is why the party continues after the evening's last concert, when we offer folk dancing under Marieke's instruction. As well as playing, she guides us safely through the steps, so that everyone can join in. A festive end to this year's Baroktoberfest! Baroque music - fresh from the barrel! Two days of baroque music, folk music, communal dining, folk dancing and musical surprises in the middle of Copenhagen. On 23-24 October Camerata Øresund once again invites you in to Baroktoberfest - our informal celebration of baroque music, where the joy of music and the magic that arises when musicians and audience come closer to each other fill the air. This year we head north. From Icelandic folk melodies and yearning sounds to festive vocal music and the melancholy and majesty of the English baroque - and an encounter between baroque and folk music that finally sends us straight onto the dance floor. Over two days you can experience four concerts with Camerata Øresund and international guests, join in the communal dinner, explore music you may never have heard before - and end the festival with bagpipes and folk dancing. Baroktoberfest is for both dyed-in-the-wool baroque fans and for you who are simply curious. Together with fantastic guest musicians we want to offer enriching musical experiences, but there is no need for solemnity. We create a warm and relaxed festival atmosphere with room for immersion, community, food, drink - and plenty of musical enjoyment. Come to one concert, stay the whole evening - or take in the whole of Baroktoberfest.
