Resonance of Echoes

Felicia Greciuc

Description

A melody can carry memories, even without words. Resonance of Echoes revolves around musical memory, identity and the meeting of traditions. With Jewish musical heritage as one of its starting points, the concert brings Felicia Greciuc and Esbjerg Ensemble together around a programme in which the voice of the oboe meets the many nuances of the strings. Henrik Goldschmidt’s oboe quartet Tikvateinu is performed by Felicia Greciuc together with musicians from Esbjerg Ensemble. In Herman D. Koppel’s Divertimento pastorale the oboe joins in close conversation with viola and cello, while Mieczysław Weinberg’s String Trio, Op. 48, gives the strings their own space in the course of the concert. Singability has a special place in Mendelssohn’s Four Songs without Words, arranged by David Walter for oboe and string trio. The title points to one of the concert’s central ideas: that instrumental music can tell and express something that does not need a text. Elgar’s Andante and Allegro completes the programme with yet another meeting of oboe and string trio. From oboe quartet to string trio, the changing line-ups open up new ways of listening. It is an afternoon with room for both recognition and discovery — and for the musical echoes we take home with us. Programme Henrik Goldschmidt — Tikvateinu · oboe quartet (Premiere) Herman D.
