Esbjerg Ensemble
Esbjerg Ensemble performs classical chamber music with an uncompromising sense of quality, and is recognised for its innovative and versatile programming. The ensemble consists of 10 temperamental and expressive musicians from all over the world. All have been selected especially for their unique qualities, divided into wind quintet, string quartet and percussion. Guest musicians on piano, double bass and other instruments are hand-picked for programmes that require an extended line-up.
The first professional chamber ensemble:
On the initiative of local forces and the Ministry of Culture, Esbjerg Ensemble was established in 1967 as the first professional chamber ensemble in Denmark. The ensemble has set the standard for chamber music in Denmark, and has had great significance for the whole cultural life of the region and nationwide. The task then was the same as now – to perform classical chamber music at the highest level. First and foremost with a focus on south-west Jutland, but also nationally and internationally. We perform about 80 concerts a year with versatile programmes. These also include school concerts, music theatre, chamber concerts, festival collaborations in Denmark and abroad, workshops and a wide range of other collaborations and projects.
