Chamber music for recorder and lute
Duo al Dente
Description
Duo al Dente Kirsten Lund Jensen recorders Per Weile Bak Renaissance lute and archlute Concert at Askov Højskole with Duo al Dente Duo al Dente, consisting of Kirsten Lund Jensen on recorder and Per Weile Bak on lute, both trained at Danish and international conservatoires. Over 25 years the duo has made its mark on Danish musical life with hundreds of concerts and CD recordings and has won several prizes at international music competitions. They have made it their trademark to play music from the Renaissance and Baroque, i.e. the 15-1700s, on the historical instruments, lute and recorder. Besides being highly active musicians, both work as teachers and communicators of early music. At the concert Duo al Dente play music by, among others, Johann Sebastian Bach, John Dowland and the Irish composer Turlough O'Carolan. A repertoire full of historical atmosphere, to which Duo al Dente add a contemporary and melodic charm, joy in playing and intense presence. They may also mix a piece of Renaissance music with a more recent, well-known song – just for fun! Along the way they will talk about the music and the instruments. Kirsten Lund Jensen trained at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium and Det Kgl. Danske Musikkonservatorium, with a diploma examination in 1995. Subsequent soloist studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig with Prof. Robert Ehrlich were completed in 2003 with the Konzertexamen. Per Weile Bak was captivated by the colourful sound world of the lute, and a diploma examination with lute as principal subject in 1993 was supplemented by studies with Jakob Lindberg. Per Weile Bak has since taken part as soloist and chamber musician in a wide range of contexts. Read more about Duo al Dente at www.duoaldente.com
