New Year's Concert

Description

Welcome to a New Year's concert with the best of the very best - as we kick the new year off with glitter, big emotions and unforgettable melodies from the world of musicals. All of it led by the host couple Pelle Emil Hebsgaard and Lea Thiim - known from some of the country's best musicals. As tradition demands, Copenhagen Phil invites the audience in for a festive New Year's concert, where the symphony orchestra this time throws itself lovingly into the musical genre - in addition to beloved New Year classics. At the helm as host couple stand Pelle Emil Hebsgaard and Lea Thiim - two strong musical personalities with their roots firmly planted in the world of musicals. We dedicate the first half to England's musical king Andrew Lloyd-Webber, where you can hear hits from Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats and a beautiful orchestral suite from The Phantom of the Opera. In the second half we celebrate the 100th birthday of the world's first musical, Show Boat, and move through the great composers of the American musical such as Bernstein, Gershwin and Kander up to Moulin Rouge. Of course the audience will not be cheated of the Champagne Galop with due popping of corks! Pelle Emil Hebsgaard is known from leading roles in major musical productions such as Askepot, Aladdin, Moulin Rouge!, ELF and Seebach, while Lea Thiim has made her mark in, among others, Matador - the musical, We Will Rock You, Moulin Rouge! The Musical and The Bodyguard, as well as being the Danish voice in the Disney film Encanto. Join us as Copenhagen Phil lets the great melodies blossom in symphonic format and creates a musical festive firework display that both honours tradition and invites the new year in.
