"Birkerød KAMMERMUSIKforening – KLASSISK i Rudersdal offers its members the opportunity to attend outstanding chamber music concerts 8-10 times during a season at a very favourable price. On special occasions extra concerts are arranged, for example in 2020 a small festival marking Beethoven's 250th birthday, at which all of Beethoven's 16 unique string quartets were performed by the Henschel Quartet over 5 evenings. The ensembles range widely, from solo piano, through classical trios and string quartets, to larger ensembles such as Concerto Copenhagen with 11 musicians in a J. S. Bach programme. We seek a varied mix of internationally acclaimed ensembles and outstanding young Danish competition-winning musicians on their way in their careers. The concert season ends with a general meeting in May or June, at which the members, after a short opening concert before the general meeting, have the opportunity to put forward suggestions and ideas for the further development of the society. Members normally sign up for the whole season through an annual membership fee paid into the society's bank account. The membership fee gives free admission to all the planned concerts in the season programme – normally between 8 and 10 concerts. The membership fee also gives access to the concerts of other cooperating chamber music societies in the local area at a 50 % discount. It is also possible to attend selected individual concerts without membership by buying single tickets either at the box office at the door on the evening of the concert or via Ticketmaster. For young people under 26 there is free admission, in order to promote interest in classical music. At 58 years old the society is one of the oldest and largest societies of its kind in the country, with over 300 members and in continued strong development with new initiatives. The society is led by a passionate, volunteer board of 6-7 members who plan the concert programme, organise the practical work of staging the concerts and promote them in a printed season programme covering autumn and spring. The concerts are normally held in the concert hall of Mantziusgården, Johan Mantziusvej 7A in Birkerød, only a 5-minute walk from Birkerød Station and with good parking facilities. The membership fee can be kept at a very low level thanks to support from Rudersdal municipality, the Danish Arts Foundation, Solistforeningen and larger private foundations. "
