This week the violinist Michael Germer will give his recommendations for concerts near YOU 🎶
Michael is the most recent recipient of the DR P2 Talent Prize 2022. He is currently studying at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium with Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider.
🔔 3 and 4 March - DRSO & Barbara Hannigan
I think you would have to look a long time for a composer who writes in a more spectacular way than Mahler did. The fourth symphony is something of an oddity - written for a rather small orchestra, he perhaps takes a more naive and imaginative approach to this symphony. What makes this concert even more extraordinary is Barbara Hannigan, who both conducts and sings the solo in the symphony. This concert is absolutely not to be missed.
🦩 6 March - NOVO Quartet (Fuglsang Musikforening)
This up-and-coming quartet, based in Copenhagen and recent second prize winners at the Trondheim International Competition, will take Fuglsang Musikforening by storm in a bold programme of string quartets by Beethoven, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. I have heard them, and I can promise you that they will not disappoint you.
🔥 6 March - 27 March - Die Walküre (Det Kongelige Teater)
When we talk about writing in a spectacular way, Wagner is in every respect a rival to Mahler in this sense. This monster of an opera has it all - a gripping story, astonishing lyrics, breathless music, all of it coming together in this new production at Det Kongelige Teater. And with Maestro Søndergård on the podium you can hardly go wrong here.
