Description
The four musicians from Trøndelag in the tango quartet have played together in various tango line-ups since 2005. They have toured all over Norway and have also played concerts together in Argentina and Spain. In recent years they have also appeared on several occasions as a soloist quartet together with, among others, Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps, Luftforsvarets Musikkorps, Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps and Trondheimsolistene. The quartet's repertoire ranges from traditional Argentine tango music to "new tango music" by composers such as Astor Piazzolla and Håkon Skogstad. About the performers Åsbjørg Ryeng (b. 1992) comes from the city of Trondheim. At the age of 10 she chose to put the fiddle on the shelf in favour of the exotic tango accordion, the bandoneón. Since then Ryeng has cultivated her passion for Argentine tango music. Åsbjørg trained at Norges musikkhøgskole in Oslo, where she completed her master's degree in spring 2019. She has been a soloist with, among others, Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester, Kringkastingsorkesteret, Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Trondheimsolistene. As a chamber musician Åsbjørg plays in several of the country's leading tango bands and appears on a number of tango records with ensembles such as El Muro Tango, Tangueros del Norte, Los Osos Polares, Glød and Cantango. Håkon Magnar Skogstad (b. 1989) is an award-winning Norwegian pianist and composer trained in classical piano in Trondheim, Oslo and New York. He completed his artistic doctorate in 2022. Skogstad has given concerts in large parts of Norway, as well as in the USA, Argentina, Germany, Austria, Spain and Sweden. As a "tango pianist" he has toured since 2005 and released a number of records both as a solo artist and with internationally acclaimed ensembles. The album "Visions of Tango" with Skogstad, Atle Sponberg and Trondheimsolistene, which contains Skogstad's self-written "tango piano concerto", was awarded a Spellemann in 2021 in the classical category. As a composer Skogstad has arranged and composed over 80 works, including several larger commissioned works. Ole Herman Schøyen Sjölin (b. 1990) is a sought-after double bassist from Trondheim. He trained at Norges musikkhøgskole (2009-2013). Sjölin has been permanently employed at Trondheim symfoniorkester and opera, and at Trondheimsolistene since 2013. Since 2003 he has played in several different tango ensembles and has been on several study trips to Argentina to learn from the best in the genre. He has toured all over the world and has appeared on a large number of recordings. He plays a Gaetano Rossi bass from Milan, 1846. Rannveig Ryeng (b. 1988) is a versatile violinist from Trondheim. She trained as a performer at Norges musikkhøgskole in Oslo. She is an active freelance musician who in recent years has worked with, among others, Trondheimsolistene and as concertmaster of Midtnorsk Symfoniorkester. She has appeared in a number of theatre productions at Det Norske Teatret, Christiania Teater, Folketeatret and Trøndelag Teater. In addition, Rannveig has many years of experience in the genre of Argentine tango, and is a violinist in several award-winning tango ensembles, including Tangueros del Norte, Los Osos Polares and Tango Ensillado. She also plays regularly in a duo with her sister Åsbjørg Ryeng. In recent years she has also worked as a music producer, and produced the Spellemann-winning record "Visions of Tango" with Håkon Skogstad and Trondheimsolistene. Right next to Rådhusgata 30. PublikUng PublikUng is an organisation that lowers the threshold for young people to go to the opera and classical music concerts. The vision is to spread interest in these art forms and make them more accessible to those between 18 and 30. PublikUng now has just under 2000 members and it costs only kr 50,- to become a member. The only rule is that if you have received a free or very cheap ticket to a concert/performance, the registration is binding. You MUST then use your ticket. If you do not, unfortunately a fine may follow. There is always a long waiting list and someone else who wants to go in your place, if you cannot. So let us know if you are not going to use your ticket after all. You can also give it to a friend.
