The Nutcracker - Classical Christmas Ballet with String Quartet

Description

Experience the world-famous ballet «The Nutcracker» performed by world-class Ukrainian ballet dancers from Etoile Productions! «The Nutcracker» is a beautiful Christmas fairy tale about the young Clara who falls asleep and experiences the Nutcracker Prince, toy soldiers, snowflakes and the Sugar Plum Fairy coming to life. The dream is not only pleasant, full of sweets and snow. Clara and the prince must also fight overgrown rats and mice led by the evil Rat King. It was the composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky who in 1892 made this story one of the world's most popular ballets, and today it is a worldwide Christmas tradition to see this performance in the run-up to Christmas. Perhaps it has something to do with both dance and music being experienced as universal languages, and with people, regardless of nationality or age, being gripped by this story of a girl's fragile dream and the battle between good and evil. Part of what is unique about this version of the performance is that a string quartet is included in the production, helping to create an intimate and warm Christmas atmosphere. The combination of music recorded by Kharkiv Operaorkesteret and the string quartet's appearance throughout the story allows the performance to show off the close connection that exists between music and dance. This version of «The Nutcracker» uses classical choreography by Marius Petipa and is performed by ballet dancers from Etoile Productions. The company consists of professional Ukrainian ballet dancers at a high level, and the Norwegian organiser, Kultur for Folket, is a company that gives Ukrainian artists who have no opportunity to perform in their homeland a chance nonetheless to produce touring cultural events of high quality for an audience. Programme: Tchaikovsky / The Nutcracker
