Amnesty concert

Description

Throughout 2026 we have worked closely with Amnesty International Norway. Through various concerts we have brought forward themes from their human rights work. This evening is devoted to that collaboration in its entirety. Our contribution is the musical one. We take inspiration from the classical symphony and build the concert as a movement in four parts. We begin by sketching out a landscape. A calmer part follows, where we come closer to the human. Then it opens up again, with more movement and energy. Finally the music points forward - towards action and hope. With a particular focus on women's rights this evening, it is natural to let the voices of Katarina Barruk and Ghawgha Taban carry much of what we wish to convey. Programme: Steve Reich / Duet for 2 violins and string ensemble Erkki-Sven Tüür / Action for string orchestra Ghawgha Taban / My little backpack Ghawgha Taban / Tell my mother Franz Schubert / Death and the Maiden, Op. 7 No. 3 Missy Mazzoli / Vespers for Violin Arvo Pärt / Fratres for violin, strings and percussion Songs by Katarina Barruk
