Description
The Barber of Seville is a musical comedy full of complications, infatuation and cunning plans - with a burlesque twist and direction by Vidar Magnussen. We meet the charming barber Figaro, who with quick-witted lines and even quicker solutions helps the young Count Almaviva win the heart of the beautiful Rosina. The pace is high, the melodies are immortal, and the laughter comes easily as disguises, misunderstandings and secret arrangements become entangled. This is opera at its most playful - elegant, energetic and irresistibly entertaining. Rossini's music is bel canto (beautiful singing) at its finest. The Barber of Seville is the best known of the genius composer Rossini's many operas. The story is sung in Norwegian, and has surtitles in Norwegian and English. Opera in two acts. Duration approx. 3 hours, including a 30-minute interval. Introduction by Gunnar Danbolt one hour before each performance in the Grieghallen foyer on the 2nd floor. Programme: Gioachino Rossini / The Barber of Seville
