Beethoven 3 and 7

Description

Beethoven's revolutionary Symphony No. 3 redefined what a symphony could be. The work was composed in 1803 and marks the divide between the Classical period and a more dramatic and emotionally turbulent Romantic era. Beethoven dedicated the symphony to Napoleon Bonaparte, who was the composer's ideal hero until he proclaimed himself emperor. Beethoven struck out the dedication in anger when he found out. Symphony No. 7 is darker and was called the apotheosis of the dance by Richard Wagner. Ludwig van Beethoven is perhaps the most influential composer in classical music. In 2027 it is two hundred years since he died. Programme: Ludwig van Beethoven / Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" Ludwig van Beethoven / Symphony No. 7
