The Children's Choir The Children's Choir at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet was established in the spring of 2002, and takes part both in regular opera and ballet productions and on special occasions. The choir consists of approximately 70 children, both boys and girls, who have gone through extensive auditions. The choir is divided into groups for those aged 6–10 and 10–17. The children are taught singing, drama and movement every week. The Children on the Main Stage The Children's Choir has taken part in several of the National Opera's main stage productions, including Tosca, Den fjerde nattevakt, La bohème, The Magic Flute, Otello, Der Rosenkavalier, Macbeth, Hansel and Gretel, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Peer Gynt and Carmen. In recent years the Children's Choir has also performed a number of productions of its own, adapted for young performers and aimed at a young audience, including Brundibar, Det store bankranet, Vi lager opera, Pollicino, Forhekset – med tryllestav i operaen, Askepott, Der Jasager, Lillebror og Knerten and Stormen – forteljinga om Miranda og Ferdinand, which won the international prize RESEO's Opera for Young Audiences Award 2014. In these productions the children have had all the leading roles. Photo: Erik Berg
