Orthodox Vespers in the Church

Description

To conclude the Orthodox choral gathering, Vespers will be held in the church on Sunday 8 November at 16.00. Vespers is an evening prayer, or liturgy of the hours, as it is called in the Catholic Church. It consists mainly of a number of psalms from the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament with antiphons, a short reading with responsory, and Mary’s song of praise, the Magnificat, with antiphon. Orthodox music is simple, intense and moving, and creates a special sense of community in which everyone can feel at home. Admission is free.
