Fantastic Voices - 20 Years of Highlights

Description

As a prelude to their 20th anniversary, DR Vokalensemblet presents a wide-ranging programme of fantastic choral music, conducted by Martina Batič. Experience a string of choral works with Schumann's Romantic sounds, Pärt's expressive tone paintings and Poulenc's heartfelt prayer among the highlights of the concert. With this concert we lead up to DR Vokalensemblet's 20th anniversary by gathering musical threads from two decades in a programme in which spirituality, poetry and Romantic intimacy mirror one another across time and style. Under the direction of Martina Batič, Poulenc's simple and deeply felt prayers unfold, while Pärt's meditative musical language opens a space of light and reflection. Martinů's colourful tribute to the Virgin Mary brings both folk warmth and rhythmic vitality, and in Schumann the warm, Romantic sound blossoms in a nuanced interplay between pure female voices. Together this makes for a concert experience that at once shows the diversity of the human voice and the artistic fellowship that has carried DR Vokalensemblet through 20 years.
