DR Vokalensemblet
DR Vokalensemblet is DR’s chamber choir with 18 classical singers, all of whom can perform as soloists.
The choir's repertoire ranges from medieval music through the Baroque and Romantic periods to Danish songs and brand-new works. Both great Danish and European composers have written music specially for DR Vokalensemblet, which is internationally acclaimed for its pure, Nordic sound.
Several of the choir's CDs have received international prizes and distinctions, including two American Grammy nominations. Most recently the choir released the CD Årstiderne – 28 danske sange, which has been highly praised in both the Danish and international press.
One of DR Vokalensemblet's important tasks is to bring live choral music out to all parts of Denmark. This happens every season through concerts in small and large Danish churches, and through workshops and concerts with local amateur choirs.
