BACH'S CHRISTMAS ORATORIO
Dirigent: Henrik Schaefer / Solister: Natalie Beck, sopran Alice Lackner, alt Lukas Siebert, tenor Jonathan Michie, bas / Kor: Filharmonisk Kor
Description
Bach's Christmas Oratorio begins magnificently with timpani and trumpets in "Jauchzet, frohlocket!" (Rejoice, exult!), and when the choir comes in, the tone is set with full intensity and goosebumps! The work tells the story of the birth of Jesus through a mixture of festive choruses, lyrical arias and recitatives, in which the evangelists, Luke and Matthew, carry the story forward. The music is marked by wind instruments in radiant baroque splendour, dancing rhythms and deeply moving moments of quiet devotion. "The Christmas Oratorio is full of jubilation, and we will perform it in a way that helps everyone in the church get into a truly joyful and festive Christmas spirit."
