Description

The pleasure-loving bohemians let us into the cold attic rooms of Paris once more, as one of the greatest hits in opera history is restaged by Elisabeth Linton. 130 years after its premiere in Turin, La bohème still enjoys an immortal life among the most performed and best-loved works in opera. Perhaps because of the fascination of the - on the surface - carefree artistic milieu of Paris? Perhaps because of the beautiful music and the recurring melodies that follow the individual characters and make the opera exceptionally easy to follow? Certainly because of the timeless portrayal of true love in a world where it is otherwise so often cheaply for sale. In La bohème we meet four friends who, with the poet Rodolfo at the head, try to keep warm in a cold attic room on Christmas Eve itself. They have no money to buy firewood, and they owe the rent as well, but what does it matter when you are young and carefree? The friends decide to go out into Christmas-busy Paris, but Rodolfo stays behind to write. There is a knock at the door, and so one of the most moving love affairs in opera history begins. Outside the door stands the seamstress Mimi, asking for a light for her candle, and when Rodolfo takes her cold hand, a love is awakened as hot as only youth can feel it. Opera director Elisabeth Linton herself directs the revival of La bohème, which was a great success at its premiere in 2016. The singers, who take on Puccini's legendary opera and hits such as Your tiny hand is frozen and Musetta's Waltz, are led by two rising international soloists: the Georgian-Ukrainian soprano Teona Todua and the Bosnian-Swiss tenor Omer Kobiljak as Mimi and Rodolfo. They share the roles with Den Kongelige Opera's soprano Sofie Elkjær Jensen and the young tenor Long Long, who made his debut at The Metropolitan Opera in New York in the spring of 2026 in precisely the role of Rodolfo. Musetta and Marcello can be experienced with Den Kongelige Opera's Clara Cecilie Thomsen and Jens Søndergaard. La bohème is sung in Italian with Danish and English surtitles. In collaboration with GöteborgsOperan Recommended from age 8
