The Four Seasons

Description

The classic above all classics: The Four Seasons is the work we all know and love. Carl Nielsen and Grieg also offer delightful tones that flow through the hall - and the soul. “I am really looking forward to sharing my interpretation of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons with the audience - and the programme is completed with music by Carl Nielsen and Grieg, which we are very enthusiastic about.” - Cristian Chivu Ivan, concertmaster A vitamin injection of a concert: three works that leave you in a good mood. Vivaldi's The Four Seasons is perhaps the most familiar classical work of all - but when did you actually last hear it in its full length? Now you get the chance! You also get the chance to hear the very first work by our national composer Carl Nielsen. He wrote his suite for strings at just 22 years old - but it is a fully fledged work, full of the humour and wilfulness that would later become so typical of Carl Nielsen. You probably know Grieg too - but perhaps not his Holberg Suite. It is a tribute to the good old days - delightful music with plenty of vigour. Together, these are three works that bring light and new energy to the January darkness. Programme: Antonio Vivaldi: The Four Seasons Carl Nielsen: Little Suite for Strings Edvard Grieg: Holberg Suite
