Aarhus Symfoniorkester
Aarhus Symfoniorkester is a Danish symphony orchestra based in Aarhus. It is one of Denmark's five regional orchestras.
With us we bring more than 80 years of experience of the best that classical music has to offer. The way forward is guided by constant artistic curiosity and the ambition of making every season a modern classic that can define the sound of the city.
It is a sound driven by raw, classical core power when we perform the great symphonic concerts on Thursdays and Fridays, or let the sonorities soften and condense in a series of shorter concerts at the weekend. It is a sound created by popular masterpieces and rarely played beauties – and by family, Christmas and New Year concerts that fill Symfonisk Sal with life and joy.
Live or on CD, Aarhus Symfoniorkester presents a purposeful musical outlook. An outlook that engages with the surrounding society – and with its own relevance and usefulness. As an emotional outlet. As the space of the unique experience. As musical reflection on our shared history. And not least as community-building play.
The importance of music cannot be overstated, and with all our efforts we aim for a lasting effect on everyone who hears us – and at securing for the central and eastern Jutland region an orchestra of world class.
