Description

Comic opera with a twist. Enjoy the bittersweet humour in the midst of a labyrinthine universe that reflects the many paths (and wrong turns) of life. In Mozart's masterly comedy of complications about love, infidelity and forgiveness, the artistic trio Anne Barslev, Rikke Juellund and Astrid Lynge Ottosen explore the struggle of women, high and low, for the right to their own bodies in a system where the count wants to reinstate his droit du seigneur over the estate's young women on their wedding night. The maid Susanna and the countess seek their place in the castle's hierarchy. The scope for self-expression is very limited, and it is easy to fall through - or even worse - over the edge. The set design reflects the social levels, and the beautiful rococo costumes have a touch of timelessness. The source of The Marriage of Figaro is the French poet Beaumarchais' revolutionary comedy. In its own day it was considered explosive and was forbidden to be performed in public, because it rebelled against inherited privileges in the ruling class. Mozart's delightful and also satirical opera, which has entertained audiences for centuries, overflows with the most beautiful music. Experience Annika Beinnes in the role of Susanna together with Henning von Schulman as Figaro and the young American baritone talent Ian Rucker as the count. The Marriage of Figaro is sung in Italian with Danish and English surtitles. Recommended from age 8
